Planning to take it back PDF
Wednesday, 26 September 2012 00:00

We have been thinking, studing, and going around the possibility to take it back as project and we want to say thanks for the tons of answers on the survey before we load back the website.

After some months of research, we have faced several troubles that we want to share with all of you. We wanted to open RPW again with a grid concept, based on the survey results, but:

1) The first big issue is the performance versus server cost and the amount of users willing to buy lands, and the cost of each region, enough for us to cost the server power it require to build a World with a good performance plus all the men work that it demand to build it and monitor it.

2) The platform itself, its not ready yet to control external regions to connect to it, for several reasons, one is the content protection, that for sure, all of you are familiar with, the second reason, is that there is no way yet to allow or deny someone´s region to connect unless its by IP address, and if the IP is a dynamic one, as tons of users have, then its translated into a beatifull headache. Or we allow external regions to connect, forgetting any kind of content protection or we host all the regions ourself, and then again, server cost grow up plus more men work.

3) We looked at different platforms, and there are good expectatives, but again, some main features are no yet well implemented and we dont have the amount of employees with free time to develop whats needed.

So, what we are planning, as a start,  is something pretty small and familiar, nothing fancy, to support Pen and Paper role play games, with a virtual service were roleplayers can gather in a 3D friendly enviroment (details will be given at the proper time), and in the meantime we can measure the temperature, maybe selling a region to some entusiasts willing to support the biggest goal of build a world, like we used to be.

Your opinion is important for us, because, role play its a passion for us, but to build a virtual world its a work, that demand investment, time and tons of hours of work and support. So please take the time to answers the polls we will be placing on the website and if you want so share something with us and the rpw community, we have opened the Forum for you.

We are really happy to see that there is a big RPW community and we want to say thanks again for your loyalty.
